If you’re reading this, start using Pinterest. Unlike other social media platforms, Pinterest is a powerful search engine people utilize for a variety of reasons.
I started using Pinterest last year when I needed inspiration for a new protective hairstyle. I posted some braids that I did on my hair and the following day my Pinterest notifications were on fire!
I posted this picture with no expectations of people seeing it or pinning it to any inspiration board. They were just some regular braids. After seeing how well my pin did, I realized how a blog could benefit from Pinterest.
Writing has always been essential to who I am. In school I kept a journal, as an adult, I continue to journal and in this virtual space, I would love to carve out a corner where my writing lives.
In this blog post, I want to show you how I will keep myself accountable by using Pinterest and consistency in hopes of monetizing my blog.
After all, why not me?
Posting Consistently
When I journal, even if I have nothing to say initially, I eventually have to remember something I wanted to unpack or jot down to look at later. I want to bring that same approach to this blog. Writing is a skill that is consistently developed over time. I get discouraged when my blog is at 0 views for the day however, with my next step this will change shortly.
Using Pinterest
Watching the engagement on my pin encouraged me to post more. Seeing my pin saved to boards named “2024 vision board” or “hair Inspiration” lit a fire and showed me how powerful Pinterest is. I am still learning how to navigate the platform and I will write a blog post about how I make pins. But, using Pinterest more frequently is my top priority right now.
Stay Away from Insights for Now
Checking my insights for updates on site visits discouraged me on more than 1 occasion. Seeing my metrics go from 7 views to 0 does something to my ego. The time and effort that I’m putting into building a successful platform will not be instant and I know that. Since I am new and starting to build the habit, limiting my site visit analytics to once per week will help me stay focused
Learning about SEO
The internet has many free resources that can help me better understand why SEO is important. My digital footprint spans several social media platforms and I post helpful content. If learning about SEO will help my content reach a larger audience, why not?
Be Patient
Every article I read about growing an audience promises growth in 7 days or guaranteed ways to make a profit quickly. This is the exact opposite of what I want. I want to learn the art of blogging, what makes people want to read your blog, and why people should visit my blog. Is it even worth it to blog in 2024? Answers to these questions come with time and developing this skill is something I want to be good at.
Documenting my blogging journey is something that I am very invested in doing so I will keep a weekly updated tab. When I reach a milestone, I’ll write about it. When I have relevant information to share, I’ll post it. I’m excited to see what I can learn and who will tag along for this new journey!
See you in my next update!
