Leaving my house without my emotional support toiletry bag is a guaranteed way to have an off day.
The contents of this bag allow me to enter the public without fear of not having my essential needs readily available. Hand sanitizer, lotion, and concealer are staples that always stay on me.
Traveling through New York streets unintentionally touching train railings, standing next to sick passengers, and needing to reapply sunscreen makes me an expert on items that make me confident to face outdoors.
In this post, I want to detail 5 essential items you need to travel with and keep in your emotional support toiletry bag.
Hand Sanitizer
Before COVID, I was very intentional about using hand sanitizer. Working with children made me hyper-aware of germs and because of this, hand sanitizer lives in my bag. I gravitate towards Dr. Bronner’s lavender hand sanitizer since the scent is very soothing. However, Trader Joe’s hand sanitizer is more accessible.
Hand Soap
I’ve worked in a New York City public school that carried the infamous pink soap in every bathroom (if you know, you know). This mysterious pink liquid is so drying, that the webs of my fingers turn white. Dr. Bronner’s eucalyptus travel-size hand soap has been a savior. Small enough to fit in your bag, safe ingredients, and, peace of mind when entering a bathroom that might not have hand soap.
Hand Cream
L’occtaine has the best hand cream that I have ever purchased. Infused with shea butter and other natural oils, I feel hydrated moisturized, and non-greasy with every use. The priciest item in my bag but, I justify it by also using it during my corrective shower routine sometimes. This multi-use hand cream is an item I never leave home without.
Body Wipes
Wiping my neck, underneath my arms or my face is just as important as washing my hands. Getting the grime that collects through the day off the high points of my body helps me feel refreshed. Lavender essential oil is known for its calming benefits so naturally I purchased wipes that have this oil. These Herban Essential Lavender towelettes get the job done! In a pack of 20, these individually wrapped wipes help me smell and feel good after a long day.
Sunscreen
Despite the season, wearing sunscreen is extremely important. Re-applying sunscreen throughout the day has been challenging for me so I’ll share a hack that helps me. In the morning I apply SuperGoop Glow Stick Sunscreen. Mid-day after I’ve washed and sanitized my hands and I don’t want to touch my face, I spray Vacations Super Spritz SPF. This way I don’t touch my face and I’m protected from UV rays!
When my emotional support bag is locked and loaded, I feel like I can comfortably spend an entire day outside. My bag is packed with more essentials but these 5 are things I simply can’t live without. The best part is that the majority of these items can be used in different spaces like work or the gym. If you carry other essential items with you I would love to know!
Until Next Time~
